very simple

So I finally (finally!) actually finished one of the myriad books that I’ve started this year.  Of course, the fact that it was in comic-book form helped.  If anything though, the drawings really helped to capture the mood of the entire piece.  Stark, bold, a little bit sad.  Growing up in the west, you just can’t even imagine living through 10 years of war, only to be shipped off, as a 14-year old, to a foreign country where you don’t speak the language, for your safety.  And to then be abandoned by the people who are entrusted to care for you.  A really, really, beautiful (both graphically and substantively) book.
