by sam on 12/28/2004generally, if you’re afraid that photographs of yourself "sitting on hooded and bound detainees, holding a gun to a detainee’s bloodied head, and placing a boot on the chest of a prone man" will put your life at risk, maybe you shouldn’t post them on the internet in the first place. Just a thought.
An AP reporter discovered the photos, posted on the picture-sharing site Smugmug.com, during research on another set of photos that purportedly showed Navy SEALs abusing detainees.
It certainly doesn’t sound from the article (although it’s short on this type of info) that the AP reporter hacked into personal files.
It seems like these guys could have benefitted from my rule of thumb – never put anything on the internet that you wouldn’t want on the front page of the NY Times. In this case, they appear to have literally experienced the consequences.
