very simple

My name is Sam (as if you couldn’t have figured this one out by looking at the title of the thread). I’m currently 29, living in Manhattan, and working (alot). I’m a lawyer, and I work at one of those really big monolithic law firms that everyone else blames for all of the world’s ills. but I like it, so that’s all that matters. I’m pretty liberal, a registered democrat, and I do think that the Constitution guarantees a right to privacy through the ninth amendment. I used to care about social causes a lot more, but then I discovered that I care about paying the rent (and my crushing law school debt) a little bit more. Plus, once I met a few of those really noble public interest lawyers (ok, more realistically, once I dated one of those guys and he had some friends), I realized that they were just as greedy and self-involved as all the other lawyers I knew. They just wanted praise and adulation for all of the sacrifices they were making instead of money. and they liked to think that they were better than the rest of society because they really knew what was going on.

But I’m not bitter (ok, one last dig – it’s also really easy to be noble when your daddy is the vice president of an insurance company and still footing all of your bills when your 31!).

Ok. I’m done. I promise.

Hmmm. what else. I have a dad, a brother, and a stepmom who are all great. My mom passed away a few years ago at the way too young age of 49. I have great friends, who rarely get on my nerves (trust me, that’s impressive!), and I tend to procrastinate. a lot.

In other news, life is pretty good these days, the sun is finally shining, and I have an entire weekend where my only concrete plans are to get my haircut and go to a picnic.
