057/365: pellegrino

03/8/2011

Another morning, another bottle of fancy italian water at my local cafe. My favorite part is when they run out of the medium sized bottles, and just bring me two or three of the little ones to make up for it (and charge me the same price).

044/365: sleeping ollie (hipstamatic)

02/14/2011

Ollie started feeling under the weather yesterday (or earlier, but only got lethargic and didn’t eat anything yesterday), so he spent the day sleeping. Which is different from how he usually is because….

well, he was still lethargic.

Thankfully, yesterday was also the last day he was staying with me, so he’s back in the loving arms of my parents now, who are much better equipped to deal with things like taking him to the vet.

But he was still cogent enough to continually attempt to wedge himself between my knee (under the blanket) and the back of the couch, which is his favorite sleeping position. This way he could more easily act annoyed and put upon every time I tried to move even the tiniest bit.

040/365: watchdog (hipstamatic)

02/10/2011

Ollie always needs to know where I am. If I’m sitting on the couch, he just sits with me, but when I’m at my desk, he just sits here and stares at me for hours. Sure, sometimes he’ll pretend to go to sleep, but I guarantee that if I even shift in a way that indicates that I might get up, he’s up on his feet ready to follow me. We actually put the dog bed here so that he wouldn’t either (i) continually try to climb in my lap while I try to use the computer or (ii) position himself directly behind my desk chair, so that I risk running him over every time I move.

037/365: breakfast triptych (hipstamatic)

02/6/2011

I’m beginning to enjoy the hipstamatic app on my iphone more than I thought I would, and have been trying out different “films” and lenses for fun. So, in the interests of playing around with the settings, I present to you a triptych of my traditional cafe breakfast: espresso and mineral water. Plus the new york times e-edition.

036/365: more hipstamatic ollie

02/6/2011

As promised. here, ollie, a tiny jack russell terrier, has managed to monopolize both my couch and my favorite blanket. he also drove me up a wall last night, insisting every two hours that he needed to go out. I’m sure that this had nothing to do with the fact that my nighttime doorman keeps treats in his pocket. But the joke was on Ollie, when he insisted on going out again at 9 (after going out at 7), because Al was on a break! ha!

Seriously – we got down to the lobby, Al wasn’t there, and Ollie stopped dead in his tracks and tried to go back to the elevator. I, being the mean aunt, then forced him to take another walk in the rain anyway. I think he’s learned his lesson.

035/365: instamatic ollie

I have a feeling that this won’t be the last picture of ollie that gets included in the project. I’m beginning to understand why all those bloggers do their weekly pet blogging. It’s an irresistible photographic subject.

032/365: …and he’s back

02/1/2011

My parents are going to Colombia and Costa Rica for two weeks (provided that they can get out of town with the ice storm tonight), so Ollie’s back with me until Valentine’s Day. Just in time for the entire sidewalk outside my apartment to get coated in a sheet of ice. He’s still adjusting, as evidenced by the fact that every time I walk near my bedroom (which includes walking to the bathroom and the kitchen), he jumps up on my bed and starts burrowing, as if we’re going to sleep. at 7pm.

011/365: hat

01/11/2011

This was my favorite cold-weather purchase this year. I’ve been looking for a hat like this for a while, and none of them were quite right. What I particularly like about this is that it is both soft and oversized, so I can stuff all of my hair into the top. And it’s extremely warm. Purchased at H&M for something ridiculous like $8.

008/365: caution glass

This may be my favorite sign at my local post office branch. Because you know that it is the result of someone smashing their face into the giant pane of glass.

52=365 : day 2 : ollie

01/2/2011

Woohoo!

Two days in a row. I’ll see if I can actually keep this up or if I revert to the “52” part of the project over the “365” part of the project.

I’m normally not one for pet-blogging, largely because I don’t have a pet, but since I’ve been dogsitting for a few weeks, I figured I should get one in before he goes home tomorrow. Here’s Ollie, playing with his stuffed rat.
