Last night of my week in the Berkshires, we’re spending the evening on Lake Buell with a friend who has a house right on the lake. Here, belle is bidding adieu to the summer.

I sometimes think I could wander around the city taking pictures of nothing but signs for the rest of my days, and I would never run out of subjects. Random building in midtown.

The other day, I was trying to explain the golden hour (or ‘magic hour’) to someone. It’s essentially the 30-60 minutes immediately after sunrise and immediately before sunset when the light is at its absolute best for photography. It has something to do with the way that the light bends on the horizon that causes colors to just be deeper and richer.
In any event, here are two crappy iPhone pictures of the sunset tonight during the golden hour.

Today was another one of those lovely days, and with the quarter winding down, a co-worker and I headed off-campus for lunch. When we finished, we came out to see this classic…Datsun. I was highly amused.
Another co-worker, upon seeing the picture, pointed out the similarity to the Jaguar XKE (featured on Mad Men this season), which just upped the amusement quotient significantly.
I totally see it and yet…it’s a Datsun.

One year ago today, I was unemployed but still trying to be optimistic, and I somehow ended up adopting a cat from my parents’ vet. I viewed this as eminently optimistic, because I wouldn’t have taken on the extra expense of another living being if I didn’t think things were going to turn around soon. Two months later, I got a job, and it’s still going strong.
Happy one year Sadie – you are a monster, but are most certainly my monster.
