The best part about this old-school grocery store is the sign.

Saturday was Obscura Day, and I participated by going on the tour of the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel. It was really cool. Pictures are not the greatest, owing to the fact that it was really dark down there, and I either had to shoot with my crappy built-in flash or at ISO 1600, which left things mondo-grainy. But here are some pics.
yesterday was gorgeous out, so I took my first bike ride of the season after a five-month break. took it easy, rode 10 miles on the hudson river greenway, which just keeps getting better. Took a little pit stop at the 5-mile turnaround point to enjoy the sunshine, and took these with my iphone. It got into the 70s yesterday.
today was even nicer than yesterday. I spent several hours sitting on the steps at Alice Tully Hall eating lunch and catching up on my reading.

After a weekend of torrential downpours, the sun came out in full force yesterday. and it got unseasonably warm.

First, let me just say that I know I have completely fallen down on the 365 project. I don’t know what it is, but at some point I kind of hit a wall. With the weather turning, I hope that changes, but for now, I’m changing the way that I format the titles of these posts to reflect the date they were taken rather than the number in the series, largely because I’ve lost track of what number these should be. So…
I ordered CO2 cartridges in bulk, because I use them to fill up my bike tires in a pinch, and they’re a lot cheaper this way…

Today was even more gorgeous than yesterday, so I picked up a sandwich and went and sat in central park with my nook for a few hours. in shorts. While the flora is still lacking enough green to make it actually pretty, the fauna has started reappearing.

Today was the first truly nice day of 2010. Sure, it only hit the low 50s, but it was gloriously sunny, and it was that day, where everyone starts to come out of winter hibernation to venture outside. I have no doubts that some more wintry weather will reappear before winter is truly over, but today was the first time in a while that it was truly a pleasure to wander around outside. Without a winter coat. Any one of these could be the official “365” entry, but I felt like posting all of them together.
There has been nothing but a sign in the window for over two years at this location, advertising that the fancy gelato and italian donut shop would be opening in September 2008. Then, all of a sudden, the plywood has come down and it looks like it might happen, just in time for spring 2010!
