How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice!

But after that, you still need to find this door.

instagram update | july and august

09/3/2015

I never got around to posting my instagram pics from july, so I’m posting everything from july and august together, now that we’re heading into labor day weekend. Pics include my normal subway related fare, snapshots from my trip to wyoming and mini trip to the botanical garden, the cat (of course), and some culture by way of the most anticipated, awesome show on broadway right now.

lincoln center

07/11/2015

It was too nice and warm today to think about going down into the subway, and after last week’s series of commuting mishaps (I got “detoured” from my normal/planned route every single day last week) I was in no real mood to voluntary go back into the system for a few hours/days, so I chose to spend the beautiful afternoon wandering aimlessly around my neighborhood. I do this all the time, but I usually don’t remember to bring my camera along. So I got some nice shots of Lincoln Center while I was out.

instagram roundup – april (and a new project in the planning stages)

05/2/2015

april appears to have largely been about meals. But I have also been inspired to finally start a project that I had been thinking about for a while. I want to photograph every subway station in the new york city subway system. It requires some planning in order to not end up repeating myself over and over again, and also switching to an unlimited metrocard. I’ve been organizing myself, putting together a comprehensive list of all of the stations in the system (which there doesn’t seem to be a good one available anywhere?!) and the trains that run through them, and once I start I’m going to try to be methodological and target small sections at a time so that I’m not biting off more than I can chew – I figure If I pick a section of a line to tackle on any particular day when i’ve got no other plans, that’s probably the most sensible way to do it. I like the idea of this project in particular because it’s something that I can choose to do on a day here or there when I’ve got no other plans, and I can put it down and pick it up again depending on how busy I am with other things. But I’m determined to start.

tony awards (prep)

06/12/2011

I don’t recall if the Tony Awards have ever been at the Beacon Theater before, but they are there this year, and I plan on not leaving my apartment for the rest of the day (I’m about 3 blocks away). These tents have actually been up for a week, and they’ve got barricades everywhere, and some (crazy) people have already camped out with folding chairs to watch the festivities. I sure hope no one was planning to go grocery shopping at Fairway this evening!

I was a last minute substitute for my dad, who had the flu, but I got to see A Behanding in Spokane the other night, and it was both awesome and awesomely creepy. As befits any play starring both Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell. And a missing hand.

Went to see Race last night. As with everything by David Mamet, it was both fabulous and fabulously uncomfortable.
