{"id":971,"date":"2005-03-17T15:10:27","date_gmt":"2005-03-17T19:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.very-simple.com\/blog\/2005\/03\/17\/progress\/"},"modified":"2007-07-29T11:50:08","modified_gmt":"2007-07-29T15:50:08","slug":"progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.very-simple.com\/blog\/2005\/03\/17\/progress\/","title":{"rendered":"Progress?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>I live in the Union Square\/Flatiron neighborhood, and was always fascinated by the building that houses (housed?) the Odd-Job (particularly after it was featured in a photo exhibit at the Urban League put together a few years back by my parent&#8217;s friends), and I had absolutely no idea that it was going to be <a target=\"NewWindow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.curbed.com\/archives\/2005\/03\/17\/union_squares_stairway_to_nowhere_vanishes.php\">torn down<\/a>.  I always thought it was a bit of a shame that it housed a discount store, but it was a pretty prominent example of mid-century modern architecture, and with better neighbors (rather than the low-rent canal street wannabe that is 14th street between University and 5th), it could even have been a neighborhood gem.  Well, no more.
