I’ve been walking around today, chilled to the bone. All I want to do is curl up in front of a roaring fire and drink lots of hot chocolate.<\/p>\n

I’ll be the first to say that my commute is relatively easy – 20 blocks (about 1 mile). It’s actually a pleasure to walk when, say, it’s about 15-20 degrees warmer than it was today. But this morning, by the time I got to work, I thought my face was going to fall off (and yes, I wore a sweater, wool coat, scarf, gloves, uggs and a hat that covered my ears). But I couldn’t get rid of that "chilly" feeling all day at work.<\/p>\n

And the walk back home, after dark, didn’t help things either.<\/p>\n

Other than the cold though, it wasn’t so bad (for me) today – in fact, there was significantly less car traffic along my route, making it a snap at intersections.<\/p>\n

I shouldn’t even complain – one friend of mine had to walk from 101st street to Rockefeller Center. And a guy who sits around the corner from me spent 2 and a half hours walking from Queens. Oh, and then there’s another colleague who I ran into when I was walking into the office this morning (he’s a smoker, so he was outside), who had something he needed to do from the office this morning, so he drove in at 3:30 in the morning from the burbs in order to beat the 5a.m. start time on the carpooling requirements (mainly because there were still rumors at that point that Metro-North might have a sympathy strike). Yeah, I had it pretty easy.<\/p>\n

But I’m still shivering. And I’ve been home for two hours. And I just had spicy food for dinner, thinking it would help.<\/p>\n
